Sydney: Castle Hill Farmers & Fine Food Market
My belly is quite full, as it is most 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month.
Usually, when it's farmer's market day, we scramble out of our pjs, get the dogs ready and b-line for one of these ah-mah-zing Bacon & Egg rolls.
It is all about the honey and port cured bacon. But when you partner this with the damper style bread and soft grilled egg... it's just πππ .
First things first: letβs be clear, itβs a messy affair. But oh so worth it. The egg drips and the damper does what it can to soak it up, but it will give you sticky hands, so bring the wet wipes.
But this time, we decided to venture out see what else was up for tasting. See the round up below :)
1. Duck Foie Gras
Okay, get your best French accent ready. π«π·
No? Not your thing? Okay, Just listen to this guy talk instead π
Hubby followed his tummy to Steph's Gourmet Foods where he was welcomed by Stephan, the wonderful aroma of cheese and of course, his sausage (yes it was his quirky French humor that made special mention to his... sausage πππ)
2. Beef Bresaola, Country style Terrine and Swiss Appenzell
At the same stall, we left with a care package of Beef Bresaola, Country style Terrine and Swiss Appenzell which basically is French for yum. :D
Though, I'm not sure if I am a fan of Terrine. We tried it on a baguette and it was nice, but i don't think I could get past the whole it's-a-spread-but it's- meat thing.
After taste testing many great cheeses and cold meats, we left with our tummies just that little bit fuller and our bank accounts lighter.
3. Salad Bowl
Like an actual salad bowl.
There is a stall at the markets where they park the truck up on the grass and it turns in to a shop front. I like this vibe- it's like they JUST harvested and they've brought it to you to take home. They lay out a couple of tables and you basically pick and choose the plants you want. Simple :)
Now these are just the three stalls that we visited because we were on a time limit. As it's happening again in this weekend, will be sure to visit more. I hear something about an apple pie in a cup...
